What to Expect

Lyla's baptism is a warm, welcoming ceremony in the United Church of Christ tradition. It's brief and family-centered, and all are welcome — no matter your background or faith.

Highlights of the Ceremony

  1. 1 Welcome & Presentation Lyla is presented to the congregation, and family and friends are welcomed to share in the day.
  2. 2 Promises & Profession of Faith Lyla's parents and godparents make promises to love and guide her in faith, with the support of everyone gathered.
  3. 3 Blessing of the Water The minister offers a prayer of thanksgiving over the baptismal water.
  4. 4 Baptism with Water Water is gently poured over Lyla's head in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  5. 5 Blessing & Welcome Lyla is blessed and welcomed into the family of faith as the whole community celebrates her.
